Early Career: Scaling for the Frontline
David Johndrow has spent his career at the intersection of workforce technology and human complexity, building systems that serve the people who have to live inside them, not just the executives who buy them.
As one of the youngest Division Presidents at Staffmark, David pioneered variable-capacity hiring models for high-volume hourly workforces, an early proof point that technology could create genuine efficiency without sacrificing the human element. The approach required deep operational discipline: you can't automate what you don't understand, and David understood exactly how frontline hiring actually worked.
HRLogix: Building the Infrastructure
Alongside co-founder and wife Maryann Johndrow, David built HRLogix, one of the industry's first fully paperless Applicant Tracking Systems, purpose-built for highly regulated sectors including gaming and healthcare. HRLogix didn't just work; it became critical infrastructure for its clients. The platform scaled to serve a demanding enterprise customer base while maintaining a record 78% annual EBITDA, proof that operational excellence and product quality compound each other.
The successful exit of HRLogix validated the founding thesis: when you build technology around the actual needs of the people using it, not the assumptions of people designing from a distance, the outcomes are categorically better.
Industry Governance
David has served on numerous industry boards at the intersection of HR technology and voluntary benefits, developing a reputation as a practitioner-voice in a space dominated by theorists. His understanding of how benefits actually flow from carrier to TPA to broker to employer to member gave him an early view of where the system was failing, and what it would take to fix it.
TechHalo Labs: The Next Chapter
At TechHalo Labs, David has reassembled the core team that built HRLogix to tackle a harder problem: the insurance and health benefits experience. The dysfunction is deeper, the stakes are higher, and the opportunity is larger. Halo360, TechHalo's AI benefits middleware, and SKY, the AI Benefits Genius, are the products of that team's combined operational and technical depth applied to a market that has been waiting for someone who actually understands it to build something better.
Beyond TechHalo
David serves as a volunteer for the United States Coast Guard and holds a 100-ton Master License, a credential that requires the same combination of technical competence, situational awareness, and calm-under-pressure leadership that defines his approach to building companies.
